Research on the Regional Cooperation Innovation Network of Universities in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Great Bay Area

As typical innovation organizations, the structure and efficiency of cooperation among universities’ behaviors are important influencing factors for regional sustainable development. In 2019, Chinese government promulgated “Outline Development Plan The Guangdong, Hong Kong Macao Great Bay Area”, which directly promotes a network universities in Area. This study used UCINET to visualize Kong, based on data generated by 35 Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Area, jointly establishing 37 professional alliances that developed 888 ties from 2017 2022. results show current cooperative density Area is high (density = 0.746), but cohesion trend not significant (network centralization 26.92%); clear circle has been formed. exhibits narrow shape at both ends widens middle; higher hierarchical position region, more likely they enter core establish relationships. Universities marginal circles find it especially difficult initiate relationships due their disadvantageous terms limited resources lack administrative intervention. situation still room expansion.
